about

Each track in this series is made exclusively using a single analogue drum machine (or bass synth) as the sound source. Appearing on the second volume are: Roland TR-808, and TR-727.

The intentions of this project were: to use single analogue x0x (et al) machines as sound source material for each individual track -- to use those well-trodden sounds in non-standard ways

This project was released with the tracks presented just slightly off from chronologically. I think my work on the project improved as I went along, so the later editions are better -- I've never been quite as fond of this first volume as the others. Unfortunately it was the most popular of the series when it was initially released in 2008/09, and I always thought maybe people heard it & didn't bother checking out the rest of the series because they didn't like this? Maybe that's possible, hard to say.

Still, it does show that the concept of the series was in place from the beginning.

One kind of interesting thing to note is that all five of these first tracks were all done in 2 days in 2008.

The naming convention of the tracks:
(Month #) = date the piece was made
(letter) = indicates the tracks place in sequence, 'a' was the first made, etc.
(TR-x0x / TB-x0x) = the drum machine i culled sounds from to make the piece
