about

these recordings were done in 2014 and 2015
of course, this was going to have been material for a sequel to Detritus 1 & 2, during the time when i was very heavily into doing lo-fi site recordings of any sound that caught my attention.
if i had gone through with this project, i would have done a lot of clean-up and selection, and finally i would have made a collage giving some sort of flow to it all. instead the recordings sat neglected as i moved on to other projects.
after languishing for a number of years, in these recordings i hear a job i no longer have, a work computer and work phone i no longer use, a school i don't attend, large groups of people that i now avoid, apparently i was still drinking then given the wine caps and wine glasses recordings, and then there's several recordings i don't recall anything about whatsoever.
it's kind of a time capsule to hear again, stirs up some feelings. you never really think a project like this is going to end up being a kind of diary of the time, but that's the way it goes.

decontextualized sound is fun, but i decided to describe the sound as best i can in the titles.
i hope this is something worth listening to.
