about

This is an album of drone music.
I made this while trying to break out of a dry creative period, and while dealing with effects of some ongoing mental health issues. Drone music helps me "reset".
I have a conflicted view about saying albums are "about" things. Clearly I have my own ideas, and I enjoy writing them down and letting people into my thought processes, but I also think it's up to the listener to decide what the album is about. I feel some hesitance insisting on thematic content. After all, it's just sound, in most senses, it's not really "about" anything. Music is music, and attached ideas are attached ideas.
Here are some attached ideas that I associate with this music and my time making it. Feel free to add your own:

Fracture, distress, and mending
Desperate fear, fear so large it manifests as a place without escape
Lost possibilities
Cultural and personal schism (and schism as unity)
The seeming impossibility of an ideal
Actual observed progress and improvement
A feeling of not having much time left
Complex trauma
The imprint or scar left by the past on the present, and the constraints these scars have on movement
Healing and growth
Acceptance and resistance
Danger and safety
Home
Self confrontation
The absurdity of being alive

Special thanks to Andrew Weathers, Emmanuel Toledo and Carrie Hodges

mini review by Ian Stewart:

The king of moody dynamics returns!
It's kind of spooky in spots and it does creep up on ya.
The voices in some spots precede layers of not exactly beats, entirely.
A few patterns develop quickly and then float there for a while.
Moody melodic rhythmic melange just like he's been doing since the first Luster tape.
I can't recommend it highly enough for fans of weirdness and drone music.
