about

These pieces were made in the first five days of March 2021.
The songs are sequenced here in the order they were done.
I like that each seem to be a response to the last in some way, and that this ep seems to reveal a somewhat squirmy line of thought.

I mentioned on March 1 on Twitter that a lot of what I've been working on for many months has been what I would consider to be pretty tonal work (none of which has been released yet), and that I felt like suddenly going in a different direction, simplifying and getting weirder for a while.
I have never been able to prepare a piece of music for release as quickly after making it as I have here. It felt important for me somehow to move this collection as rapidly as possible. It has long felt to me like my music is more relevant, closer to something ineffable, the more recently it was made. Maybe this is a vestige of magical thinking, I don't know.
